Still trying to decide which day I had...

1) Turned up to found a nice crowd at Pevensey, all loitering with indecision as conditions looked a bit iffy. I was desperate so rigged 6.5m and big board, which spurred most on to rig something, but mostly 7.5's. Was pretty much perfect - nicely powered no rip and too hot in the winter suit. Then sailed downwind to see Baydrew, but he wasn't well, so hung round with his sailing chums for an hour and then sailed back up to Rosetti Road. Saw Basher launched from the car park on his Hyper and 7.8, so headed upwwind to see him. Waved, sailed back, de-rigged, got home, warm welcome from the family. Great day

2) Turned up to found a nice crowd at Pevensey, all loitering with indecision as conditions looked a bit iffy. I was desperate so rigged 6.5m and big board, which spurred most on to rig something, but mostly 7.5's. The first half an hour was pretty much perfect, then the wind dropped, so ended up going sideways off the plane down towards Baydrew's turf. Let some downhaul off. Seemed to do the trick, flew out, but as I turned round, I could see the rip was taking me even further. Landed at the sailing club mumbling mild obscenities and let the downhaul off completely. Headed out again, that was ok - back to planing so must be making ground upwind. Clearly not. I was well and truly caught in the plug hole and being sucked down it. A gutteral voice spat the vilest of Satan's filth from my mouth as I drifted towards the prospect of a mile long walk of immense shame. Unbeknown to me, PaulP had skipped off in his van to give me a helping hand back upwind (top man, beer owing), but by then the wind came back so honked it straight upwind and back to the land of the living as quick as I could. Finally got back to where I set off from, to arrive to lots of time travel and Robinson Crusoe jokes. Saw that the wind was still there, so headed back out to sail upwind to see the Bishop on his Hyper and 7.8. Got just upwind of the car park when the wind dropped a touch and knocked me off the plane just as the Bishop was setting off on a big downwinder. Waved, then limped my way back down to Rosetti to de-rig just as it looked like the wind was picking up again with the sun. Got halfway home, when the Mrs called and said that my babysitting duties were not required after all and that I could sail all day. . Should have rigged the 7.8 and I would have had a ball all day. Having said that, it can't have been that bad. All I can think about now that I'm back home is whether I should head back down for a second session. Littlestone was the place to be I'm sure though.
